Hobo Hammocks, in their first year of business, have made a gigantic impact on those who need help the most. They help the homeless of Salt Lake City, Utah.
Jake Andersen, owner of Hobo Hammocks, coined the tag line for his company, “Buy a hammock, feed a hobo.”
Jake says, “I really believe in what I am doing… and up to date, we have delivered 5500 meals to the homeless through the Rescue Mission. I had the privilege of talking to one of the owners, Chris Croswhite, of the Rescue Mission. Hearing how excited he was about how Hobo Hammocks had been able to contribute and help them out, I could tell that it really meant a lot to them….
…and that made me feel really good about what we have been doing here.”

What Is The Easiest Way To Connect With The Rescue Mission
For those of you not in Utah, who wish to help, you can go to their website http://rescuesaltlake.org/
You can make a financial contribution. And if you are local (Salt Lake City, Utah), you can sign up as a volunteer. There are tons of opportunities. You can organize a food drive, a clothing drive or just be apart of a drive that is going on.
Or, you can be a part of a couple of the really big events they have coming up. They have their Thanksgiving dinner in November, where they fill their facility to capacity and feed as many people as they can. The Rescue Mission is always looking for more volunteers.
And they’ll do a Christmas dinner as well.
You Help You When You Make Purchases At HoboHammocks.com
Jake says. “Every hammock we sell, we provide a meal. However, that extends to our other products, too. Whether you purchase Hanging Straps, Indoor Mounting Kit, or a T-shirt (and Hobo Sleeping Bags coming out soon); no matter what you purchase, we’ll use a portion of that to donate to feed the homeless through the Rescue Mission of Salt Lake.”
“Another thing anyone can do is send in old, or broken hammocks – we sew those up (repair the old hammocks) and donate those hammocks to the homeless so that they have a place to sleep instead of on the cold, hard ground.”
HCRBeta is an enthusiastic supporter of Hobo Hammocks and their mission to assist the homeless.
