I have been experimenting with Voodoo Floss for over a year. I feel very lucky that I have experienced some very positive results from Voodoo Flossing for both *climbing and non-climbing related applications.
- I’ve healed a torn calf muscle (*non-climbing)
- Found pain relief and recovery in my fingers (*climbing)
- Learned how to de-pump in between burns while climbing (*climbing)
- Reduced DOMS after hard sessions (*both climbing and non-climbing)
- Helped my daughter recover quickly from a jammed finger (dodge ball) (*non-climbing)
- Helped a fellow climber recover from a severely sprained ankle (*climbing)
- Recover and reduce pain from a strained hamstring (*climbing – strained my hammy with an awesome heel hook while sending Planet Earth in Fountain Red)
- Wrap the band around my waist to alleviate back pain (*non-climbing)

WOD Fitters Voodoo Floss Band works best for me
Of all three types of Voodoo Floss bands that I have used, the WOD fitters is the best band that gives the best results (for all body parts except the fingers). You might have a different experience; and if you do, please share in the comments.
Reasons why the WOD Fitters Voodoo Floss Bands work best for me
- It is big enough to wrap entire arm, hamstrings, waist – it is big
- I can get that Super Compression that I want
- It is easy to handle – I can wrap all of me without assistance
- Affordable
Experimenting with Voodoo Floss to know which type of band works best for you.
If you are like most climbers, you might want to begin your experimentation with little to no costs. I was lucky that I had that old rubber raincoat belt. You might have access to one if you have kids or nieces or nephews. But what if you don’t have an old raincoat around? You can always try the Goodwill. I have no idea if that is a popular item at the Goodwill.
What about a bike inner tube?
Trek Bicycle Store in Shawnee Kansas gave me an old inner tube to experiment with. It is butyl rubber, so it is not as elastic as latex rubber. In fact, the biggest drawback of the bicycle inner tube is that it does not have that elasticity needed to really apply super compression. You are going to have to experiment and find out if an inner tube works for you. I find it to have a compression strength a little tighter than an ace bandage; but far away from the super compression that I want from a Voodoo Floss wrap.

Cost
You might get lucky and find out that an old bicycle inner tube works exactly as you want it to as your Voodoo Floss band. That would be awesome! And same with finding an old raincoat belt. You never know. That is why it is so important to experiment.
But if you decide on the WOD Fitters Voodoo Floss banks, you’ll only pay $29.99. And they come wih a 100% satisfaction guarantee. If it doesn’t work for you, you can ship it back and get your refund. You’ve got nothing to lose.
Size
The small size of the yellow rubber raincoat belt worked for me. It worked for my wrists, forearms, elbows, and my calf.
The WOD band’s size makes it perfect for flossing my entire forearm from wrist to elbow. And the 7 feet of length allows me to wrap up my quads and hammies – I was glad of that when I strained my hammy while on a climbing trip. Wait when you wrap your hips – it feels so good!
Elasticity and Super Compression
***This is the main reason why I give the bicycle inner tube a “C+” rating. It is just not elastic enough. That means I can’t tighten it around my body as tight as the other bands. With the bicycle inner tube, I miss out on the “Super Compression” that I want.
You might be different. Maybe all you want – and what feels good to you – is some moderate compression that the bicycle inner tube provides.
Stays in Place
The rubber on both the yellow raincoat belt and the WOD Fitters allows it to “lock” down on itself. There is this “self adherence” that happens as you wrap around your body that keeps it in place. That is missing from the bicycle inner tube.
Storage
They all roll up pretty compactly. The WOD comes with a storage bag.
Ease of Use
You can order your WOD Fitters directly at the WOD FItters Website or on Amazon – it will be at your house and ready to use in a few days.
If you are a bicyclist, you’ll only spend a little DIY time cutting your inner tube into a Voodoo Floss Band. [I made a video to show you how to do it: How To Cut A Bicycle Inner Tube as a Voodoo Floss Band,] And you will have to clean up whatever powdery stuff is inside an inner tube. It was easy. I just rinsed it in the kitchen sink with a little hand soap.
Finally, unless you have quick access to old raincoats, you may have quite an adventure shopping around to locate one. If you do find one, you’ll be happy – it is just about as good at the WOD Fitters.
Is It Worth It? Are WOD Fitters the best voodoo floss bands for rock climbers?
The anecdotal evidence continues to pour in: Climbers are benefiting from Voodoo Flossing. When does that collection of evidence begin to turn into a trend or a principle?
I will continue with my claim:
Voodoo Flossing is the new go-to self-care protocol for pain management, recovery, and performance.
If you are a self-experimenter or value self-care; then, yes! Adding a Voodoo Floss Band to your self-care kit is worth it.
Remember to put your Voodoo Floss band in your crag or bouldering pack (or first aid kit) and use it while you are climbing. You’ll thank me later.
