Ladies and Gentlemen, Will Reynolds Young:
HCRB: What is the last good book you read?
Will Reynolds Young: The Body in Pain by Elaine Scarry
HCRB: What was your favorite breakfast cereal when you were a kid?
Will Reynolds Young: Cinnamon Toast Crunch – I’m a sucker for sugar.
HCRB: Last place you were when you said, “WOW, that is a beautiful sunset!”
Will Reynolds Young: Anyone who’s spent a day with me knows I am a sucker for sunsets. It amazes me that no two sunsets are the same. Recently, a time comes to mind where I was driving to downtown Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh is unique because it has the Fort Pitt Tunnels as sort of an entrance to the city. You drive through the tunnels and all of a sudden there’s the city. I happen to be doing this at the perfect time.
HCRB: What was the last thing you googled?
Will Reynolds Young: Blue Mountain Ski Resort.
HCRB: What is something that you are an expert at, that few people know?
Will Reynolds Young: Public Speaking. Don’t get me wrong, I get nervous, but somehow I just have a tendency to rock it. Here’s a session I did at Podcamp Pittsburgh in 2013 entitled Small Business Social Media Toolkit.
HCRB: You an Apple or Android guy? Why?
Will Reynolds Young: Apple. I have an iPhone, Apple TV, and a Macbook. I bleed Apple. I love the beauty of the devices and how well they are built, not to mention the OS is just fantastic. That being said, I love technology. In the last year, I’ve had a Nexus 5X and a Samsung Galaxy S6.
HCRB: Would you rather climb Everest or submarine the Marianas Trench?
Will Reynolds Young: Climb Everest, no question.
Since 1996, Polly has created food grade skin care products before organic and all natural was the cool thing to do. Often times we hear about natural products that really aren’t natural at all. Propylene glycol is considered a natural ingredient.
We take natural to a whole new level with food grade, pure products. This means no fillers, parabens, perfumes. We have been really lucky and honored to grow by word of mouth. We have no sales team and I am the only one who does marketing on a regular basis.
To this day we still hand pour all of our products in our own Wimberley, Texas warehouse, production, and offices. Here’s some highlights about our company with some links to educational blog posts on the topic.
- Woman-owned
- Made in the USA
- EU Compliant
- 100% pure
- Food grade
- NO synthetic ingredients
- No “fragrance“
- NO phthalates, NO petroleum by-products, NO mineral oil
- NO GMOs
- NOT tested on animals
- Safe for Adults, Children, Babies, Animals and our planet!
- You can find all of our educational posts at, http://skinourishment.com/blogs/education.
HCRB: How did you get involved with SKINourishment?
Will Reynolds Young: I remember SKINourishment before it was SKINourishment before it was even called Climb On Products. I still think back to the times where climbOn was operated at out of the back garage of Polly’s house. Throughout my visits growing up I would visit my Aunts and Grandma in Texas.
My Aunt Polly started a company called Ivy’s Herbal Delights which is where what we now know as the climbOn Bar was developed. Back then it was called the Ivy’s Body Bar. In my years of growing up visiting, I became more and more interested in the business. I was lucky enough to be able to watch it grow before my eyes.
As a kid at home back in Pittsburgh, I would mix my own potions. I was pretty fierce competition. In 2012, I started my own skin care distribution channel called WRRYFree Skin Care. I exclusively sold climbOn Products. Throughout the next year or two, I did a mass of events in the Pittsburgh area and developed my own following while selling a few retail accounts. Polly one day approached me to come work with her. That was always my goal.
HCRB: You are the Chief Digital Officer? What does that mean? What do you do?
Will Reynolds Young: It’s a pretty fancy title I made-up, but it fits. Not only do I have excellent public speaking skills but I have the ability to make-up fancy sounding titles with some brainstorming help. My first job ever was moisture de-application engineer. Yeah, I dried cars.
Seriously, I do a little bit of everything. I built our website and our web presence, I assist customers with their shopping, the website, and any inquiries. I continually search the web for brand opportunities such as this one and I even still do events and trade shows. Finally, you can always find me on our social media channels. Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, Snapchat. Please say Hi!
HCRB: What is the coolest interaction you’ve had with a customer?
Will Reynolds Young: There are a lot of customer interactions that stick out in my mind, but I’ll stick with just two that are contrasting.
1) At the Outdoor Retailer show in Salt Lake City, we were doing a poster signing with our athlete Tommy Caldwell. We met a girl who was super excited to meet Tommy Caldwell. Tommy is her idol, and I’ll never forget how happy she was to see him.
2) There was a testimonial sent in through our contact form from Lynn. Lynn was a long-time customer who is a cross training athlete. Her father was diagnosed with cancer and was being treated with chemo that was causing him burns. She wrote “I would like to thank climbOn for making my dads unfortunate situation a little more bearable, this may not seem a big deal to some people, but it means the world to me, finding something to comfort and heal his poor body. Thank you for making a great product that can help all sorts of people no matter what the situation is.” I hold this testimonial close to my heart as an everyday reminder how special life is and why we do what we do every day.
HCRB: Have you taken a bite of climbOn? A tiny taste or a big spoonful?
Will Reynolds Young: I have eaten several of our products in varying degrees. The climbOn Bar just tastes like a ball of wax; it’s not too appealing.
My favorite story was when I was at an event a little girl was asking about the products. I told her our motto to which she replied, you’re trying to kill me. I told her, that our products were that safe and proceeded to eat some of our SKINourishment SPA Face Serum. She ran away in awe. Her mother came back with her a few minutes later, thanked me and bought some product.
There’s actually a video taste test of crossFIXE MUSCLE paste.
Here it is…the first three readers who truly have never tried any climbOn products, go to HRCBeta on Facebook, then type into the comments, “I have never tried climbOn, but I REALLY REALLY want to” and you’ll receive a $25 gift certificate.
HCRB: What is your favorite social media platform right now?
Will Reynolds Young: I am fond of Instagram for business and SnapChat for personal use. I am currently considering how we can use Snapchat as a company.
HCRB: Do you have any tips or words of wisdom for small companies or solopreneurs in regards to social media. How about your top 3 must do’s; and your top 3 don’t do’s…
Will Reynolds Young: As I mentioned above, I spoke at Podcamp Pittsburgh a few years ago with a session titled, Small Business Social Media Toolkit.
Must Do’s
- DO Interact with everyone
- DO Experiment with types of posts
- DO Have a brand personality
Don’t Do’s
- DO NOT Self-promote constantly

HCRB: What is the best way for fans to connect with you or SKINourishment?
Will Reynolds Young: Wow, wee. I am we are all over Social Media. You can find all of SKINourishment and our brands social media profiles here, http://skinourishment.com/pages/social
I’m probably easiest to find on Twitter. @WReynoldsYoung
HCRB: What is your favorite outdoor activity?
Will Reynolds Young: Skiing hands down. I don’t get to do it nearly as much as I’d like to.
HCRB: Hammock or a sleeping pad?
Will Reynolds Young: No question, hammock.
HCRB: How do you use climbOn?
Will Reynolds Young: This is a loaded question, over the years, I have found so many uses for a variety of our products.

climbOn Creme Lite – I keep this on my desk for a quick refresh.

SKINourishment SPA for Men FIEND Pre-shave oil – Please don’t tell the boss, but I use this for an aftershave!
HCRB: What are three pieces of gear or gadgets that you take with you on your outdoor adventures?
Will Reynolds Young: Even though I am a big gadget guy my only real constant is my iPhone, You’ll find it in my hand way too often. Occasionally you’ll find me with my Cannon DSLR and a pair of headphones.
HCRB: Give a piece of advice to a person going outside for the first time (camping, hiking, climbing, etc.)
Will Reynolds Young: Take a deep breath and enjoy. Go exploring and do what gets you out of your comfort zone.
