HCRB: What’s new at Organic Climbing:

HCRB: Who should buy the Organic Roll Down Pack?
Josh: The Organic Roll Down Pack is a 4-season pack, perfect for climbers and students.
HCRB: What else is new, Josh?
Josh: The Organic Load Flap. Our Load Flap is a innovative new item that allows climbers to securely bundle multiple pads onto their backs when hiking. We are really proud of how smooth and secure this will carry multiple pads on hikes.

HCRB: Who should buy The Organic Load Flap?
Josh: Boulderers looking to carry multiple pads on the back of their Organic Big Pad or Simple Pad.
HCRB: Josh, what is a Blubber Pad?
Josh: A large 3/4″ pad designed to cover the seams and gaps between pads in large landing pits of pads. We found that when padding out big landing zones there was always potential to go between pads and bottom out so this helps to cover these holes in landings. You can think of it as the blubber over the bones.

HCRB: Who should buy the Blubber Pad?
Josh: Folks looking for a final layer over large landing zones or those looking for a thin pad for low or muddy starts. We also find it super useful for winter bouldering here in the east as a couple of these allows you to keep big dry landing/spotting area around a problem.
HCRB: Share a little insight into your warranty. It is a big deal to take pride in the “Made In The USA” label. How do you stand behind your craftsmanship?
Josh: We happily stand behind any workmanship issues (i.e. sewing) that come up in our products. We stand behind all of our products 100 percent. We have less than a .01 percent return rate on warranty issues and are very proud of that.
Bouldering gear takes a ton of abuse by design: The pads take the abuse that your body would without them. We are not able to prevent normal wear and tear but do offer repair service for a very reasonable price for normal wear and tear issues.
HCRB: What is the best deal you have right now for new purchases?
Josh: Easy: Our entire crash pad line. These are outstanding products, made to order, in your choice of colors. We only use the highest quality materials–all for a great price. We see our pads lasting many, many years of hard use in the field. Many customers write to us, telling us of the value they get from their Organic Gear lasting for so long.
HCRB: Share three tips you have for someone who is brand new to bouldering?
Josh: 1) Everyone is different, especially so in any athletic endeavor so never compare yourself to anyone else. When you are new, watch how others move and get “Beta” on tricks of the trade. Let your body develop its own climbing style. We are all born with different strengths and weaknesses.
2) Bouldering is like anything in life–to succeed you need to be in the moment. If you are preoccupied, it will not be as enjoyable. Find a peaceful space in your mind and enjoy your climbing.
3) Never under estimate your local areas. So many people give up on climbing because they move to somewhere less known for climbing. Some of my most memorable days were on local, small areas where few people outside the local communities had ever heard. Sometimes, close to home, you can really develop a good circuit. Over time, the problems and area become more and more enjoyable. It is really cool!
HCRB: Is there anything else you would like to promote or mention?Josh: Yes, I would like to give a shout out to my friends Spencer and Vikki at the Conscious Climber Project.
As a long time developer of new areas, I am really excited to see these folks taking the initiative to bring some climbing issues to the top of our minds for discussion in our community. Our sport is growing and it is taxing our recreational areas. We need to stop and think about how to manage and prepare for this growth when we create a new areas.
